Have you considered adding a Call to Action (CTA) to appropriate emails, blog posts and your home page? A Call to Action is simply asking your visitor or reader to take some specific actions. The most comment CTA is a “buy now” or “Call Us At….” button, however, the request you can make to your visitors is limitless. It all depends on your desired outcome. If you want to increase your newsletter subscribers, then designate a small section on the top half of your home page to ask for email subscriptions. Bloggers might ask readers to subscriber to their RSS feed or retweet a blog post. Food manufacturers might ask customers to submit locations or retailers they wished carried your product.
Every page on your site should have some type CTA related to the content on the page. I’m not suggesting a Buy Now button, but instead ways to get people involved, engaged and willing to interact with you.
Another often underutilized lead generation tool is the use of social media buttons throughout your web site. While most blogs are splattered with these buttons, most product pages and company “about us” pages are naked. Now I’m not saying you should go and polka-dot every page with social media sharing icons, but if someone is reading your press page, online menu or service overview page, it’s always nice to have a social media sharing button close-by. We all talk about the value of word of mouth, however, you have to enable it. I’ve seen more and more retail companies integrate social share buttons, but this opportunity applies to all industries: manufacturers, small businesses, distributors, bloggers, etc.
