Meet our guest: Jasmin Singer is a writer and activist living in Los Angeles. She is the author of the memoir, Always Too Much and Never Enough (2016), which tells her story of finding herself through juicing, veganism, and love, as she went from fat to thin and from feeding her emotions to feeding her soul. In 2016, Jasmin was named as one of “40 Under 40 People to Teach Us About Each Other” by The Advocate Magazine. From 2010-2016, Jasmin was the Executive Director for Our Hen House, a non-profit media hub that produces podcasts for people who want to learn how to change the world for animals. In September 2016, Jasmin joined VegNews Magazine as the Senior Editor.

In this episode of Pivot! join Stephanie and Jasmin to talk about how 2020 is changing animal activism and how some of the issues that have been a focus in 2020 are forcing us to make changes in our lives, and what that means in terms of personal responsibility.

Learn about:

  • Why Jasmin feels so strongly that personal narrative and storytelling are powerful ways to achieve social change and work towards social justice — and why all vegans should be using this tool!
  • How we can use moments when we are struggling to be of service to others
  • How we can support people of the global majority to propel the animal rights movement forward
  • The importance of intersections of multiple types of activism, and how the growing awareness of this is shining a lens on the relevance of veganism
  • How Jasmin has blended her activism with her professional life.
